NEW YORK, May 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Another Amtrak train has been involved in a deadly collision near Philadelphia, the New York Post reports. ("2 Dead After Amtrak Train Derails Near Philadelphia," April 3, 2016). The train was said to have been traveling from New York City to Savannah, Georgia, when it struck a backhoe that was on the train tracks. The train derailed and 35 people were reported injured, though none of the passengers is believed to have suffered serious injuries.

There were reports of two losses of life, neither of whom where passengers on the train. Officials from the National Transportation Safety Board were reportedly en route to investigate and determine the cause of the accident. This accident took place near one of Amtrak's worst accidents – last may eight people were killed when a New York-bound Amtrak train derailed near Philadelphia.

"I don't know what the answer is, but it seems like we are seeing way too many Amtrak and other train accident stories in the news lately," said Adnan Munawar, Partner at Munawar & Andrews-Santillo LLP. "While this particular incident appears to not have been due to the operation of the locomotive, but rather caused by large equipment being left on the tracks, it does beg the question as to how there was such a communication breakdown that something as avoidable as this could have happened. Our hearts go out to the friends and families of the deceased, victims of this tragedy.
